Doris W. Simmons is a member of the Eighth Street Baptist Church, Kansas City,
KS, and serves in the following ministries: Deaconess, Women, Mission, and Sunday School. She is an active participant in the KAW Valley District Association and the Missionary Baptist Convention of Kansas City.
Doris is the wife of Harold Simmons, President Emeritus of the National Baptist
Laymen’s Movement an auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc.
Currently, she serves with him as a Criminal Justice Commissioner. She is an active participant with the National Laymen’s Wives and Women Supporters. Doris facilitates various classes and workshops on The Deaconess Ministry; Biblical Womanhood, The Biblical Essence and Existence of Woman, Biblical Women Leading in a Spiritual War with No More Excuses, Biblical Women Called to Godliness, and other classes. She successfully published a book entitled The Biblical Essence and Existence of Woman. She has an undergraduate B. A. Degree in Business, Wiley College, Marshall, TX; and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Baker University, Baldwin, KS; and completion of Certificate of Progress requirements from the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Doris is blessed with two daughters, one nephew-son, and five grandchildren.
